Several points to note during the die-cutting process of silicone products

Time:2024-07-30 Views:99
Silicone products, as the name suggests, are processed and made primarily from silicone as the raw material. With the improvement of people‘s living standards, whether in industry or in daily life, you will find that many products are made of silicone. The reason why silicone products are so popular is mainly due to their beautiful and diverse colors and shapes. The diversification of silicone products also relies on its manufacturing process. Today, the editor will introduce several points that we need to pay attention to in the die-cutting process of silicone products.

1. Mechanical die-cutting relies on pressure machinery, molds, and cutting tools to remove rubber edges from products.
This method is applicable to products and model products with rubber edges that can be placed on stamping molds or tool bases, such as bottle stoppers, leather bowls, etc. For products with high adhesive content and low hardness, impact finishing is usually chosen to reduce uneven edges and side dents caused by high elasticity of the product; For products with low adhesive content and high hardness, the method of punching with a blade die can be directly used. In addition, stamping is also divided into cold cutting and hot cutting. Cold cutting refers to stamping at room temperature, requiring equipment to have high stamping pressure and good stamping quality; Die cutting processing refers to avoiding prolonged contact with the product during punching at high temperatures, which can affect product quality.

2. Mechanical cutting edge trimming is suitable for trimming products with larger external dimensions using cutting tools.
All cutting machines are specialized machines, and different products use different cutting tools. For example, if there are rubber strips of different lengths at the air holes and exhaust pipe of the vulcanized tire, the rubber strips must be cut off with a slotted tool while the tire is rotating.

3. Mechanical grinding and finishing are commonly used for mold silicone rubber foot pads with inner holes and outer circles.
Grinding tools are grinding wheels with a certain particle size. The grinding and finishing accuracy is low, and the grinding surface is rough. There may be residual sand particles, which will affect the application.

4. Low temperature shot blasting can be used for precision products with high quality requirements, such as O-rings and small cups.
Quickly cool the product to below the brittle temperature using liquid nitrogen or dry ice, then spray any metal or plastic particles at high speed, break the flash and drop it off, and finally complete the finishing process.

5. Low temperature roller trimming is its freezing trimming method, which utilizes the impact force generated by the rotation of the roller and the friction between the products
The flash of products frozen below the embrittlement temperature will rupture and decrease. The shape of the drum is usually octagonal to increase the impact force of the product in the drum. The speed of the drum should be moderate. Adding any abrasive can increase power. For example, the trimming process of electrolytic capacitor plugs involves selecting a low-temperature roller for trimming.

6. Low temperature oscillation fine-tuning, also known as oscillation freezing fine-tuning
The product undergoes spiral vibration in a circular sealed box, resulting in strong impacts between products and between products and abrasives, causing the edges of the frozen brittle rubber to break. Low temperature oscillation trimming is superior to low-temperature roller trimming, with a lower product damage rate and higher production power.
